Final Year Project

Project Title

Food Wastage in Pakistan: A Nonsensical Problem

Description

Hunger levels in Pakistan here reached alarming levels despite being an agricultural country with enormous amounts of food philanthropy happening across the country. Food wastage is a nonsensical problem and can be tackled. This Capstone Project involves a detailed research paper titled as, "There’s No Such Thing as Waste, Only Stuff in the Wrong Place: Food Wastage, Its Sources, and Prevention in the Case of Karachi, Pakistan". The paper focuses on identifying sources of food wastage and common patterns between consumers and further proposes solutions that are specially tailored for Pakistan. A mock-up mobile application aiming to mitigate food wastage on a bigger scale is also being proposed. This application enables anyone to donate and share food, and one can also buy surplus food from food businesses at discounted prices.
